Training Course

We offer a wide educational experience in both technique and artistic approach that is suitable for people of all levels of experience through our Venetian Plaster Academy. 

Our courses will be held for 2 days at our main showroom and distribution centre in Christchurch and will be headed by Mario Speziari. Mario hails from northern Italy and is leader of Giorgio Graesan & Friends,  Australia, he is also founder of Advanced Spirito Libero. Mario has over 30 years experience in the field and has trained hundreds of people throughout Europe and Australia in the art of venetian plaster:

 

TWO DAY COURSE

Day 1

• Theory and technical product information
• Explanation of surface preparation
• Application of the first coat of any product.

Day 2

• Application of final coats
• Burnishing, polishing and waxing techniques and practice
• Introduction to advanced artistic painting over completed finishes 

Finish techniques covered during the course:

• Venetian Plaster- highly polished
• Marmorino
• Istinto- spilt stone, polished stone, bamboo, concrete
• Muro Naturale
• Stone Finish

Each person will produce 4 sample boards to take home as demonstrations:

• Venetian Plaster
• Marmorino Contemporary
• Textured finishes including Natural Cement, Bamboo, Zen Stone, Aged Stone, Muro Naturale
• Istinto:Textured Concrete finish

We'll also introduce and demonstrate how to make: Travertine finish, Bamboo finish, Aged Stone Finish, as well as how to use some of the decorative special paints.

The cost of the program is $1,600 (gst included) and includes:

• Two days tuition
